Quick Start Guide
Magicdoor.ai was created after finding out how cheap it is to use LLMs via their APIs. Magicdoor.ai is a wrapper around the most popular LLMs, and allows you to use them all from one place. We keep track of your exact usage and charge you only for what you use, without markups or hidden fees. The interface should be familiar to anyone who has used ChatGPT before.
Create an account to get started
Everyone who signs up gets $0.10 usage credit. It sounds silly, but it's enough to get you started.
First chats
The chat interface is easy to use. Just type your prompt and hit enter to send. Magicdoor will use GPT-4o by default, but you can switch to other models using the dropdown, even within a conversation.
As a next step, you should try Claude 3.5 Sonnet. A lot of people find it significantly smarter than GPT-4o.
Both Claude 3.5 and GPT-4o have a lot of capabilities, and should serve as your first choice most of the time. They will automatically use Perplexity to search the web if needed. They are also able to see images you upload, and generate images on the fly.
If you want to specifically research a topic, you should use Perplexity. It's custom trained for accuracy, and and will give you links to online sources backing up its answers.
Generating images
If you ask for an image in a chat, supported models will first help you generate a good prompt for the image model, and then generate the image using Stable Diffusion 'Core'. This is a great image model, much, much better than Dall-E 3.
Generating images is super fun and besides being able to do it in a chat, Magicdoor has a dedicated image generation interface where you can take full control over the prompt and try different models. The most powerful model is Stable Diffusion 'Ultra'. Try it out, it's incredible!
Usage based pricing and cost examples
Most AI tools offer a subscription model, where you pay a fixed price per month for unlimited usage. But for almost everyone, that is ridiculously wasteful. Even the best models are not very expensive to use, especially for short (i.e. th vast majority of) conversations.
Here are some examples of chat costs for different models and different types of conversations.
A single, short question for Perplexity (Best):
- 363 total tokens
- $0.0005 per message
- $0.0068 total cost
A longer chat with Claude 3.5 Sonnet to learn about SEO best practices:
- 3,020 total tokens
- $0.05 total cost
A series of questions about the Football World Cup, including an image:
- 5,281 total tokens
- 1 image generated
- $0.032 total cost

Managing your usage and balance
Magicdoor works with a pre-paid model. When you sign up you get a little bit of free credit to try Magicdoor. Then you'll need to subscribe. When you subscribe, your first payment includes an initial topup. You will probably be surprised how long your intial balance lasts you!
In the chat sidepanel, you can see your current balance, and you can see your usage history in the usage tab. If you run out of balance, you'll no longer be able to send messages, and you will need to top up via the same usage page.
Your balance will not expire.
Advanced features and further learning
The current state of the art in AI models are 'reasoning' models. Magicdoor includes GPT-o1 and o1-mini. Try them out for open-ended, complex questions. GPT-o1 models are excellent for making a plan, or for solving riddles.
